Greenhouses and polytunnels, measurement under the film

An air sensor where the weather station cannot reach, under the film.

Under film, the outside weather station stops being representative. Air temperature and relative humidity behave differently at every metre of height, and the difference between the value at the entrance and the value in the middle of the tunnel is exactly the one that decides whether you ventilate or not.

An S2101 mounted at plant level reads the layer that matters and transmits over LoRaWAN, without a cable running to the greenhouse and without mains power at the mounting point. The same alert rules apply: a threshold crossed sends an email, with its own severity per rule.

The forecast for the location remains useful as context, radiation and outside temperature explain what happens inside a few hours later, but the decision is taken on the measurement under the film, not on the regional value.
